TRIDATU PHILOSOPHY

Tri Datu or Tridatu is a composition of threads with deep philosophical value believed by Hindus to possess power. Tri means three and Datu means element or color.

The three colors of Tri Datu thread also symbolize the Holiness of God in its manifestation as Tri Murti:
1. Dewa Brahma (creator), color Red,
2. Dewa Wisnu (preserver), color White, and
3. Dewa Iswara/Siwa (destroyer), color Black.

Additionally, Tri Datu thread symbolizes Tri Kona, which are:
1. Birth,
2. Life, and
3. Death.

After birth comes life, and then death. The wearing of Tri Datu thread is meant to remind us of the greatness of God as the supreme creator, preserver, and destroyer.
